Davis Intermediate Leads Texas in Math-Driven Charity Effort
Doug Bellamy

Davis Intermediate was named the top-donating school in Texas in the Imagine Learning Do Math! Pay It Forward Motivation Contest! This statewide initiative turns math practice into meaningful community impact, and the Marauders led the way!

Imagine Learning representatives joined Davis students and staff to celebrate the top students and classes for their donation of more than 1.3 million math THINK points, which earned the school first place among participating campuses across Texas.

“We are incredibly proud of our students,” Principal T.J. Fields said. “They’ve proven that even small decisions can make a big difference."

In recognition of their efforts, the top fifth- and sixth-grade students at Davis were recognized during the second nine weeks Marauder Madness celebration. Those earning the highest number of THINK points through hard work and dedication were presented with a backpack and a certificate in front of the school.

Davis math teachers Kevin Poole, Anne Stahr, Paige Wikel, and Holley Reasoner’s math classes were the top-earning classes.

The Do Math! Pay It Forward contest, hosted by Imagine Learning, a leader in K–12 digital-first learning solutions, encouraged students across Texas to strengthen their math skills while giving back. During the month of November, Texas students collectively solved more than 1.1 million math problems, converting their earned points into a $5,000 donation to Feeding Texas, a statewide network of food banks.

Through the Imagine Math program, students earn math THINK points by completing lessons both during and after school. These points can be used to customize avatars, contribute to class goals, or donate to charitable causes.

“They didn’t just work hard in math; they chose to use their learning to help others,” Fields said. “Seeing our students combine academic effort with generosity shows the kind of character we strive to build every day at Davis Intermediate."

During the donation period alone, students across Texas donated over 25 million math THINK points, directly supporting Feeding Texas. This contribution is part of Imagine Learning’s broader charitable giving initiative, which has raised more than $1 million for local and national charities since its launch.

By combining academic growth with service learning, Davis Intermediate and schools across Texas demonstrated how students can make a real-world impact, one math problem at a time.

Lisa Wise, customer engagement manager at Imagine Learning, traveled all the way from Pittsburgh to deliver this exciting news and a donation check.

“Year after year, Texas Imagine Math students prove that learning can lead to meaningful change,” Wise said. “We’re proud of the way students across Imagine Nation have turned their hard work into generosity, helping support families and strengthen communities throughout Texas.”

Studies show that providing kids the option to donate to charity instead of redeeming rewards for themselves develops decision-making skills, boosts confidence, and lays the groundwork for a lifetime of philanthropic thinking and practice.
